Team Profiles

Andy Alagappan

Director

Andy has gained professional experience as a planner since 2009, working across diverse industries including construction, oil & gas, iron and steel manufacturing, and baggage handling systems. He is a data- and process-driven strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities and commercial acumen. During his time with Fletcher Construction, he served as the lead planner on complex mega projects such as Auckland International Airport Phase 3 (>$400M), Commercial Bay in Auckland Central (>$700M), and the Peka Peka to Ōtaki Expressway (>$300M). His specialised expertise lies in planning and delay analysis, applying advanced techniques such as Critical Path Methodology (CPM) and the Linear Scheduling Method, using tools like Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project. He is listed as an "Expert Witness" with the Construction Dispute Resolution Board in New Zealand. His work has also been recognised by Oracle, which featured him in two articles highlighting the use of Primavera P6 scheduling data to develop weekly planning tools, as well as broader planning and scheduling success at Fletcher Construction.

Blair Chant

General Manager

With 20 years of experience across demolition, civil construction, and infrastructure delivery, Blair brings a pragmatic, people-first approach to leadership at Strategic Planning Co. He is driven by improving how projects are planned, delivered, and communicated to unlock stronger social, environmental, and commercial outcomes across New Zealand's construction sector. Before joining Strategic Planning Co, he served as Project Manager – Infrastructure at Kāinga Ora, where he coordinated delivery and communications between the LEAD Alliance, infrastructure asset owners, and the Large Scale Development team. Prior to that, he held senior roles at Henderson Demolition, including Head of Contracts, leading commercial operations, stakeholder engagement, and business-wide process improvement initiatives. Outside of his professional career, he has served as President of the Thundercat Racing Association of New Zealand and as a mentor with the Graeme Dingle Foundation. These experiences have strengthened his focus on teamwork, leadership, and resilience. At Strategic Planning Co, he oversees business operations and strategic direction, ensuring every project delivers clear value and actionable insights while building capability across the construction sector and driving smarter, more sustainable outcomes.

Paru Alagappan

Business Development Manager / Contracts Administrator

Paru comes from a strong accounting and banking background, complemented by experience in the construction industry, having previously worked with HSBC and Downer. In her current role at Strategic Planning Co, she focuses on maintaining the existing client base, identifying new partnership opportunities, and managing financial records and contracts.

Jem Labuson

Admin Assistant

With over a decade of experience in sales and administrative roles, Jem has developed strong capabilities across various industries, including financial services, telecommunications, retail, and construction. Her career began in sales, where she built a solid foundation in communication, customer service, and sales. Transitioning into administrative roles, she further strengthened her expertise in data management, back-office operations, and administrative support. She is passionate about continuous learning and personal growth, consistently seeking opportunities to enhance her skills and expand her knowledge.

Mark De Guzman

Planner

Mark is a Licensed Civil Engineer with a decade of experience in the construction and engineering industry. His expertise includes developing and managing detailed cost estimates, project schedules, and reports to ensure projects meet timelines and objectives. His experience working with a General Contractor has strengthened his ability to plan and manage projects efficiently. Throughout his career, he has held roles such as Planner/Scheduler, Quantity Surveyor/Estimator, Project Manager, and Site Engineer. He has been responsible for budget and resource management, material procurement coordination, site supervision, and quality assurance. He is proficient in tools such as MS Excel, Primavera P6, and Bluebeam Revu, and also has working knowledge of Planswift, AutoCAD, and Asana.

Melissa Borgonia

Planner

Melissa is a Civil Engineer with over 10 years of experience across the engineering and construction industry. Her career has spanned multiple roles, including Quantity Surveyor, Planning Engineer, Design Engineer, and Site Engineer, equipping her with a broad and versatile skill set. She has contributed to a wide range of projects, including office, hotel, hospital, mall, and school fit-outs; residential and commercial design-and-build developments; precast fabrication for row housing, mid-rise, and high-rise buildings; as well as ship outfitting and marine bulk carrier works. This diverse background has strengthened her ability to adapt to complex project environments and deliver results across different sectors.

Donita Caluag

Planner

Donita is a Civil Engineer with experience across infrastructure and public building projects such as offices, hospitals, and subway projects. Her career has progressed through quantity surveying, project engineering, and project management roles, giving her a well-rounded understanding of both site operations and commercial processes. Being involved in the coordination and delivery side of projects, she works through challenges, supports teams, and helps keep programmes and resources aligned. She brings a practical mindset, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to every project she is part of.

Wendell Tapis

Power BI Data Analyst

Wendell is a Certified Public Accountant, former Business Analyst and Internal Auditor with over 8 years of experience across the imaging, power, retail, and manufacturing industries. He has a strong background in finance, accounting, data science, data analytics, automation, and internal auditing. He has a passion for leveraging data to extract meaningful insights and support informed decision-making. In addition to his analytical expertise, he also has skills in graphic design, bringing a creative edge to his data storytelling and reporting work. He is eager to contribute his analytical, problem-solving, and creative skills in a dynamic data analytics and data science role.

Roan Dino

Front-end Web Developer

Roan is a Web Developer with over five years of experience in designing and developing reliable, user-friendly applications. She specializes in building scalable solutions using a diverse range of technologies, including Golang, Laravel, Symfony, Vue.js, React.js, React Native, and TypeScript. Her expertise extends to ensuring quality through both manual and automated testing, delivering applications that are not only functional but also provide a seamless user experience. She is passionate about creating innovative digital solutions and is eager to apply her versatility and problem-solving skills to dynamic web development projects.
